Medical disclaimer

What this site is, what it is not, and why it cannot replace a conversation with a qualified health professional.

Draft for legal review. Not yet in force.

This disclaimer has not been reviewed by a lawyer, so it is not yet in force. It describes what the site does and does not do today. Details marked To confirm (5 so far) are things the site operator still has to supply before it can be published.

The short version

  • Chik Dorjé gives general information. It is not medical advice, and it does not tell you what to do about your own health, hair, skin or weight.
  • We ourselves are not a pharmacy, a prescriber or a clinic. Our planned service, where independent licensed clinicians make prescribing decisions and licensed pharmacy partners dispense, is not open yet. Today we do not diagnose, prescribe, sell or supply anything, and using the site does not make us your health professional.
  • Talk to a qualified health professional before you start, change or stop any treatment, and about anything that worries you.
  • Treatments in development are about research. Reading about one is not a recommendation, and it is not an offer to supply anything.
  • Facts can be wrong or out of date. Each one shows its source and the date we last checked it. Check anything that matters with the source and with a professional.
  • In an emergency, do not use this site. See Emergencies and support.

This page should be read with our terms of use and privacy policy.

Not medical advice

Everything on the site, including text, tables, summaries, the pipeline of treatments in development and the clinician directory, is general information. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

It is not written for you. It does not take account of your medical history, other medicines, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or anything else about your situation. Hair loss can have many different causes, and only a qualified health professional who has assessed you can tell which applies to you.

  • Do not ignore or delay professional advice because of something you read here.
  • Do not stop or change a prescribed medicine because of something you read here without talking to the person who prescribed it.
  • Ask a health professional about anything you are unsure of.

What we are not

  • Not a pharmacy. We do not sell or supply medicines or treatments, arrange their supply, or take orders for them.
  • Not a prescriber. We do not write or renew prescriptions.
  • Not a clinic. We do not offer consultations or treatment ourselves. Our planned online service is not open yet; when it opens, consultations and prescribing decisions will be made by independent licensed clinicians, not by us.
  • Not a diagnostic tool. The site does not assess your symptoms or your photos, and does not tell you what condition you have.
  • Not your health professional. Reading the site, creating an account or following a treatment does not create a relationship between you and us, or anyone who contributed to the site, as your health professional.

Treatments in development

The Pipeline lists programmes that are not approved for general use. What we say about them reports what sponsors, researchers and regulators have published.

  • Results reported by a sponsor may not have been reviewed independently, may not be repeated in larger studies, and do not show that a treatment works or is safe for you.
  • A trial listed here is listed as a record of research. It is not an invitation to take part, and we cannot tell you whether you would be eligible. Ask your doctor.
  • We do not publish ways to obtain treatments that are not approved, and nothing here is an offer to supply anything.

Regulatory information

We show whether a treatment is approved, and how it may be supplied, for the countries we cover: To confirm: the countries covered at the time of publishing. Each entry shows its source and the date we last verified it. Rules change, so an entry may be out of date, and some are marked not verified.

Check the current position with the regulator in your country or with a pharmacist. We do not say whether something is lawful or right for you to use, import or buy.

Risks and side effects

The risks shown for a treatment summarise what published sources report. They are not complete, and they are not a list of every possible effect. The official product information is the authority.

People respond differently. Ask a health professional about anything you are worried about, including effects on sexual health or mood, and use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you have a side effect, tell the person who prescribed the treatment or your pharmacist, and report it to the medicines regulator in your country.

Where the information comes from, and its limits

Each fact on the site has a source and the date we last verified it. We prepare the information from published sources such as regulators, journals, trial registries and the statements of the companies that make the treatments.

  • We can make mistakes, summarise something imperfectly, or be out of date. Sources can also be wrong, or corrected later.
  • Where we cannot verify something, we say not verified instead of guessing.
  • We record events that have happened. We do not forecast approval or launch dates.
  • At the time of this draft, the content has not been reviewed by a clinician, and each page says so. To confirm: update this once a clinician has reviewed the content, and say who reviewed it and when.

If you think something is wrong, tell us at the address in Contact us and we will look at it.

Clinicians and clinics

The Care directory helps you find a health professional. A listing is not a referral, a recommendation or an endorsement, and we do not assess how suitable a clinician or clinic is for you.

  • Check for yourself that a practitioner is registered, and that they are right for you. To confirm: what checks we make on a listing before it is published, and how they are described here.
  • We do not take bookings, payments or patient details. A booking is between you and the clinic, on their own website. We are not responsible for a clinic's services, prices, availability or advice.
  • Listings marked as demonstration listings are fictional and do not describe real people.
  • If a listing is ever paid for or sponsored, it will be labelled as such and never presented as clinical superiority.

Emergencies and support

If you think you or someone else is having a medical emergency, do not use this site. Call your local emergency number now (in the United States, 911; in Australia, 000).

Hair loss can be hard to live with. If you are struggling, please talk to your doctor or to a crisis support service. To confirm: crisis support contact details for each country the site is offered to.
